Frequently Asked Questions

Is it legal to scrape Facebook comments?

Yes — a comment on a public post is public data. No account, no login, nothing behind a wall: the crawler reads what anyone scrolling past would read. What you do with the opinions afterwards is your business. More in our guide to the legality of web scraping.

Do I need a Facebook account or login?

No login required. No account to sync, no cookie to paste, no Chrome extension to keep alive. You hand over a public post address, the comments come back, and your own profile never gets involved.

What data do I get for each comment?

28 data points per comment. The text, the date and time, the language; the author's name, profile, avatar and whether they are verified or the page owner; the total likes plus like, love, haha, wow, sad, angry and care counts; and any photo, video, sticker or GIF attached.

How fast is the Facebook Comments Scraper?

About 312 comments a minute. A busy post is done while the kettle boils, and a long list of posts moves at the same clip as a single one — so a whole campaign's worth of comments lands in one sitting.

Which Facebook URLs can I use as input?

Any public post, photo, video or reel address. Page posts, public group posts and the short share links Facebook hands you all work — one address per task, and as many tasks as your list is long. If you can open it logged out, it can be scraped.

Can I collect the replies under each comment?

Yes — switch Include Replies on. Every reply arrives as its own row carrying its parent comment and the name it answered, so a thread rebuilds itself in a spreadsheet. Cap runaway threads with Max Replies Per Comment; replies cost the same as comments.

Can I choose the order comments are collected in?

Yes — three orders. All Comments takes everything Facebook will serve, spam and all; Newest puts the freshest opinions first; Most Relevant follows Facebook's own ranking, which quietly drops some. All Comments is the default, because more is more.

Can I scrape only recent comments?

Yes — set Newer Than. Give it a window like 24h, 7d or 2w, or a date, and the crawler works newest-first and stops the moment comments get older than that. Perfect for a daily check-in that never re-collects last week.

How many comments can I scrape from one post?

As many as are public — there is no ceiling of ours. Max Results Per Task caps a single post and Max Unique Results caps the whole run, so the volume and the bill stay where you put them. Leave both empty and take the lot.

Where can I send the comments once they are scraped?

Just about anywhere you already work. Google Sheets, Make, n8n, Amazon S3, email, webhooks — plus our MCP server, so Claude or ChatGPT can launch a run and read the comments back. CSV, Excel and JSON downloads too. See all integrations.
