Frequently Asked Questions

Is it legal to scrape Crunchbase?

Yes — a Crunchbase company page is public data. We read the same profile any visitor can open, with no account and no paywall in the way. What you do with the data afterwards is your call. More in our guide to the legality of web scraping.

Do I need a Crunchbase account or a login?

No login, no cookie, no Chrome extension. You do not need a Crunchbase account, free or paid, and nothing is synced from your browser. Paste a company URL or a search and go — rarer than it sounds on this particular site.

What data do I get for each company?

94 data points per company. Description, website, industries, headquarters, employee range, contact email and phone, founders, investors, funding rounds, acquisitions, products, news, growth and heat scores, and the whole technology and intent profile.

How fast is it?

About 30 companies a minute on a search. One request brings back a whole page of matches, so a filtered slice of your market is on your screen before the kettle boils. Company URLs are slower, nearer ten a minute, since each one is a page of its own.

How many companies can one search return?

Fifteen — and that ceiling is Crunchbase's, not ours. Logged out, it serves a single page of matches and keeps the rest for paying subscribers. Slice your market with the filters for as many fifteen-company windows as you need, or feed company URLs, which have no cap.

Can I filter the search?

Eight filters, set on the scraper itself. Industry, location, founded year, funding stage, employee count, operating status, company type and IPO status. Combine them and point a search at exactly the slice of the market you sell to.

What does Full Company Details add?

Website, contact email and phone, founders, investors, funding rounds, acquisitions, products and the technology profile. It costs 1 extra credit per company on a search, and nothing on a company URL, where all of it comes back on the first request anyway.

Do I get funding and investor data?

Yes — funding rounds, round types, investors, lead investors and acquisitions. The amount of the latest round comes through wherever Crunchbase publishes it, which is roughly one company in seven; valuations stay behind its paid plan.

Where can I send the data once it is scraped?

Just about anywhere you already work. Google Sheets, Make, n8n, Amazon S3, email, webhooks — plus our MCP server, so Claude or ChatGPT can start a run and read the results itself. CSV, Excel and JSON downloads too. See all integrations.

Can I keep a company list fresh automatically?

Yes — daily, weekly or monthly, on the same list. Set the schedule once and your CRM keeps itself current while you sleep. Handy in a market where companies raise, rebrand and get acquired without telling you.
